No
wax floors
Wood
floors, properly finished, are one of the easiest of all floor surfaces
to keep clean and new-looking. Unlike carpeted or resilient floor
surfaces that show age and wear, wood floors can be kept beautiful
year after year with minimal care.
To
Care For Wood Floors:
· Install
proper protectors on the feet of furniture.
· Vacuum, dust or sweep the floor regularly.
· Wipe spills when they happen.
· Mop with a damp terry cloth towel wrapped on a wood-floor
mop. After damp-mopping, put a dry terry cloth towel on the mop
and run it over the floor.
· Never intentionally pour water or cleaning solution onto
the floor.
· Place mats or rugs at house entrances to catch dirt and
moisture.
· Move rugs periodically to maintain an even floor color.
· Call your flooring professional if you have problems
or questions.
Remember
Not To:
·
Let water or other liquid sit on the floor (it can warp the boards).
· Allow soil or grit to build up (it wears off the finish).
· Walk on the floor in shoes that have sharp or exposed
heels (they will dent and scratch the surface).
· Clean with products including wax, soap or oil.
Today's
no-wax floor finishes will turn dull if the wrong products are used
to clean them. Traditional cleaning products such as wax, soap or
oil will actually break down the wood finish, exposing the floor
to damage. Once a wood floor is damaged this way, it will need to
be sanded and refinished.
Today's
wood floors require much less effort and tedium than those traditional
cleaning methods. Enjoy the beauty and the carefree maintenance
of your wood floor!
